Country Club
Plaza |
Districts |
| The architecture of this
famous district is inspired by the town of Seville, Spain (fountains
and galleries). The Plaza is a huge shopping center where each
shop has a door on the street; the first of the United States.
There are numerous restaurants and theaters. It is the most animated
district of Kansas City and also the most chic with shops as
Ralph Lauren, Pottery Barn and Three Dogs Bakery. For Christmas
holidays all the Plaza is covered of more than 75 miles of jewel
colored lights, it's very impressive. |

| Wesport |
Districts |
|
District established in 1883. It was,
at this time, the pioneer settlement and the starting point of
the Santa Fe Trial. The oldest district of Kansas City has been
restored and became the meeting point of the reveler. Numerous
bars, dance clubs, restaurants and many speciality shops are
located here.
A kind of small "Greenwich
Village", Wesport has a lot of attractions.

Districts |
| From
1930 to 1950 this district has been a vibrant neighborhood boosting
the careers of Count Basie and Charlie Parker to name a few.
The fabled neighborhood had its grand reopening in 1997 after
a huge restoration. |

Two very nice museums in this
district:
- Kansas City Jazz Museum
- Negro Leage Baseball Museum

The "Rockefeller Center" of
Kansas City according to the KC Guide. people who know the real
one in New York, will be disappointed. In addition to major shopping,
restaurants and theaters, there are hotels, an outdoor skating
rink and the headquarters of Hallmark cards Inc.
Good place to go with kids.

| River Market |
Districts |
|
|
The largest open-air farmers market
in the Midwest. Closed from the end of December to the beginning
of March, the River Market attracts, every Saturday and Sunday,
a lot of Kansas City residents. Friendly atmosphere with the
Mormons, farmers and artists. The products are cheaper than in
supermarket and most of them are organic.
We try to be there every Saturday.

This Mall, very recent, is organized
according to the same principle that the Country Club Plaza.
It draw some very well known shops like Restoration, Pottery
Barn and especially Dean & Deluca (see store).
We like this mall for its
beautiful shops and 'cause we can find the best French Baguette
there.
